A project for the World Wide Web.

36 exposures is a hypertext document composed of images and text.
The series consists of 36 digitally altered photographs and 36
texts. The two series were created entirely independently of each
other, so that there could be no obvious correspondences between
text and image. Instead, associations are created. Both images
and texts were produced and assembled in series on the basis of
a simple proposition: a 36 exposure film can contain a set of
images that document widely divergent events in space and time.
What they have in common are their material proximity and their
shared relation to the perceptions and prejudices of their author.
The results are a combination of chance and intention.
Navigating through 36 exposures
The project can be viewed in several ways. By going directly to
exposure no. 1 you can view the series
in sequence, and can navigate both forward and backward through
the pages. Within the pages there are also hypertext links which
allow you to jump to other locations in the document (and sometimes
outside it).
Alternatively, you can go to an image index
showing 36 miniature images, and by clicking on any one, jump
directly to the full size image and its associated text. The visual
index will take longer to download, so be prepared for a wait.
